What does InboxMint change in Gmail during cleanup?

Only the action you confirm: Keep in Primary, Categorize into a folder, Unsubscribe from a mailing list, or move matching inbox mail to Gmail Trash. There is no silent weekly auto-delete.

Does Gmail cleanup scan archived mail or Trash?

No. Scans use the current inbox. Mail already in Trash is not scanned, and InboxMint is not an All Mail archive browser.

Can I recover mail after a cleanup?

Trashed mail goes to Gmail Trash, where Google keeps it recoverable for about 30 days unless you empty Trash yourself.

Is this a replacement for the Gmail app?

No. You still read and send mail in Gmail. InboxMint is for reviewing senders and confirming cleanup actions.
